Three people were hurt when a single-decker bus ploughed into the front of Lloyds Chemist at Scott Arms. (14/2/04)

A suspicious package package at Scott Arms caused the area to grind to a halt while bomb disposal experts sealed off the area to check out the package, which was found to be harmless. (28/3/04).

The former estate agent at 2 Newton Road is to be demolished as part of the ALDI supermarket development.

Sandwell Council announced a computer simulation of traffic at Scott Arms had demonstrated that the proposed Red Route improvements along Newton Road and Birmingham Road would relieve the current traffic problems at the junction. Details can be seen at www.Route51.co.uk.

Permission had been, on appeal, granted for up to 455 new homes in the Green Belt in Great Barr. The proposals by Bovis Homes Ltd is for the former St Margaret's Hospital site, off Queslett Road, which lies just over the borough boundary in Walsall.
